2022 Annual Karen Harper Memorial Ignite the Flame Contest Winner and Placers Announced

 

COFW offers our congratulations to everyone who entered our 2022 contest, bravely putting your writing in front of our judges. Siera London, USA Today best-selling romance author, determined the order of our finalists:

• 1st, Yanicke Forfang: A Whisper of Death 
  Yanicke recieves a publishing contract with Brick Tower Press.

• 2nd, Patsy Pratt-Herzog: Knight of Sorrows 

• 3rd, Julia Blaine: The Duke’s Design

 

About the Contest

A rewarding contest for ANY writer!

We call our contest Ignite the Flame for a reason. We want to see the scene where your couple meets—whether it’s for the first time or a reunion after a time apart—and that unforgettable spark of attraction sizzles between them. Whether your characters are ancient nobility or modern-day entrepreneurs, LGBTQ or straight, super stars or high school students—or even not-quite-human—tease us with the moment their romance ignites.

Submit 10 pages of an unpublished and uncontracted novel-length manuscript (minimum of 40,000 words) starting August 1, 2022 12:01 AM through August 31, 2022, 11:59 EDT.

All writers are welcome, whether unpublished or published!

First-round judging occurs by members of COFW and, if needed, additional romance writers.

Final-round judging: Top three manuscripts will be judged by Siera London, USA Today best-selling romance author. She will determine the first, second, and third prize.

First prize receives the grand prize: publication by Brick Tower Press, New York. Brick Tower will edit, typeset the interior, and design a cover for both trade paper and ePub publication of the winner’s novel in world markets.

For first prize, COFW will also refund the entry fee.

Second and third prizes also receive a refund of entry fee.
